This shaft is by a comrade raised intestimony of his love, recalling deedsimmortal, heroism unsurpassed.
??With ranks unbroken, ragged, starvedand decimated the southern soldier,for duty's sake, undaunted stood tothe front of battle until no lightremained to illumine the field of carnage,save the lustre of his chivalryand courage.

While Fame her record keeps,
Or honor points the hollowed spot
Where Valor proudly sleeps."
