This stone is a glacial boulder transported by the continental ice sheet and deposited when the ice melted about 1000 feet east of this spot.
Since it was found on the surface, it came near the end of the glacial period, 18,000 to 20,000 years ago.
The nearest outcrop of stone of this type would be found north of Toronto, Canada, some 500 miles distant.
This stone was moved to this location through the interest and generosity of Mr. Kilcawley.
