Brig. Gen. Lewis A. Armistead, CSA,
died here on July 5, 1863 of wounds
received in Pickett's Charge on July 3.
This summer kitchen was part of the
U.S. Army's 11th Corps Field Hospital,
located here on the George Spangler farm.

This plaque is dedicated to
