200 yards north east of this point stood
"Stamford Cottage" later known as
"Stamford Park" the home of
Sir Peregrine Maitland, Lieutenant Governor
of Upper Canada from 1818 to 1828.
The property was purchased in 1822 and
consisted of a 'cottage' and gate house,
The 22 room 'cottage' was destroyed by
fire in 1828.
