Originally owned by the Halstead Town Company, Block 28 was officially designated a city park by the City of Halstead in 1891.


The Scout Cabin was built for the Halstead scout groups in 1941 by the Halstead Lions Club with the generous support of Dr. A. E. Hertzler.
