Scientists consider William Clark's
dig at Big Bone Lick in 1807 as
establishing American vertebrate
paleontology. Bones found here
by Clark included mastodon and
mammoth. Prehistoric native
American artifacts found were given
to Dr. Wm. Goforth in Cincinnati.
