Inscription
Part of present house, a lower wing, built c. 1700. Home of Daniel Martin and his son Nicholas, who was captain in 38th Battalion of Maryland Militia during Revolutionary War and died here in 1808. Nicholas Martin's son Daniel, elected Governor of Maryland in 1829 and again in 1831. Added larger portion of the house c. 1810.
