Inscription
Construction on the first Catholic Church in Leesville was begun by Father Q. Vanderburg in 1913. The church was blessed by the Right Reverend Bishop Cornelius Van de Ven on Aprin 26, 1914. The first resident administrator was The Reverend Dennis A. Curran. Prior to 1914, the Catholics of Vernon Parish were ministered to by the priests from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Many. The Mission status of St. Michael's was changed to that of a parish by The Most Reverend Bishop Charles P. Greco on October 18, 1946.
