Circa 1840
The Stoner cabin was built on Greenwell Springs road in East Baton Rouge Parish. It is a single pen structure constructed of large, hewn pine logs with dovetail joints. This type of construction was favored by yeoman farmers of British descent who moved west from Virginia and the Carolinas and settled throughout the upland South. According to local history, this cabin was used as a way station for the stagecoaches from Greensburg, LA and Liberty, MS to Baton Rouge.
