Originally named John Kelly Park,
the name of the park was changed
on August 4, 1949 in remembrance
of the Coast Guard cutter lost
in June of 1943 in World War II,
a plaque was placed on the
revetment wall to commemorate
Lieutenant Commander John Kelly,
along with other memorial
plaques.
