La Defensa en la Batalla de Churubusco
Los cañones que se encuentran situados en este lugar forman parte de las 7 piezas que cooperaron a la defensa de este punto contra la invasión americana del 20 de agosto de 1847.Durante la defensa, fue comandante de artillería, el jefe de la 1ª Brigada de Artilleros, Don Juan B. Arguelles y tuvo como oficiales subalternos al teniente Don Jose de la Cuesta y los subtenientes Don Luis Arzamendi, Don Manuel Estrada, Don Francisco Fernandez y Don Mario Espinosa. Sostuvieron la defensa del punto con gran denuedo los batallones "Independencia y Bravos" mas tarde fueron reforzados por el Batallon de "Tlapa" las compañías de "San Patricio" y otras fracciones de tropa pertenecientes a los batallones de Chilpancingo y Galeana. Fueron hechos prisioneros el Gral. Rincon, jefe del punto y el Gral. Anaya que había fungido como su segundo; Ambos estuvieron a la altura de su deber portándose con un valor a toda prueba y demostrando un elevado patriotismo que sirvió de alto ejemplo a sus soldados.English translation: The cannons placed here are part of the 7 that cooperated in the defense of this point against the American invasion on August 20, 1847.
