Sternberg, Hall and Company Sign
This photograph taken from the west bank of the Chenango Canal looking east, shows the Sternberg, Hall and Company Sash and Blind Factory. The picture of the factory was taken about 1872. The factory produced window frames (sashes) and blinds beginning in 1853. Sternberg, Hall and Company had storage sheds that extended back to Silver Street. The canal towpath is visible in front of the factory. During the twentieth century Berglas Company occupied the building (1918-1977). Outlined on the far right of this photograph is the corner of a house thought to be the original V.F.W building when it was a private home.UTM (WGS84 Datum) | 18T E 457258 N 4709034 |
