Smith's (Mississippi) Battery, - Lieutenant William B. Turner.

This Brigade, with Strahl's on its left, formed the second line of Cheatham's Division at the opening of the action. About 2 o'clock it was sent forward over this ground to relieve Jackson's Brigade on the next crest to the north. There the Brigade at once became heavily engaged.
