86th Indiana, - Major Jacob C. Dick.
13th Ohio, - Captain Horatio G. Cosgrove.
59th Ohio, - Lieutenant Colonel Granville A. Frambes.
7th Indiana Battery, - Captain George R. Swallow.


Being forced out of the forest east of this position by Stewart's Division, Dick's and Beatty's Brigades formed on this ridge, and with the assistance of the 9th Indiana and 41st Ohio from Hazen's Brigade held this position for about thirty minutes when, by an advance of Stewart's troops from the front and a flanking attack of Johnson's Brigade on the right, the whole line was forced back through and across the Dyer Field. Van Cleve's Brigades rallied and bivouacked upon the slope next west of the Crawfish Springs Road opposite Dyer's House.
