This park is dedicated to those Simpson area men who labored in and around the coal mines during the turn of the century. At that time this area was called "Monkey Run" because the men worked in the Monkey Run Slope of the Wilson Creek Mine.
This public supported park was built by a small group of volunteers to honor these men.
