On February 1, 2003, the crew of the Space Shuttle Columbia STS-107 gave their lives in their final mission to benefit mankind.

This monument serves as a reminder to the World of the sacrifices made by the NASA Crew and their families, as well as the unity, dignity and compassion Sabine County quietly offered the World.

"Their mission became our mission."
