English translation:
Paseo de la Reforma 483 This mansion was built in 1929 by English businessman Sir Patrick O'Hey for his wife and she occupied it for several years. It is of an eclectic Neogothic style and its façade is lined with pink quarried stone. It is cataloged as a part of the urban cultural heritage of artistic value by the National Institute of Fine Arts and of patrimonial value by the Secretariat of Urban Development and Housing within the Patrimonial Conservation Area.
Movement of the MansionIn order to excavate the nine underground floors and the foundation of the Torre Reforma building, it was necessary to carry out a temporary movement of the house. This problem was solved by building a concrete rack that held all of the house's original stone foundation. Underneath this slab of concrete (or rack) rails equipped with computerized hydraulic jacks were installed. These jacks were designed to react to any unevenness during the move. The house was successfully moved 18 meters towards the north, where it stayed for six weeks while the containment walls for the underground floors of the tower were constructed. It was then moved back to its original and final position. Subsequently the nine
underground floors were then constructed under the house.
