Birthplace of William Vans Murray. Appointed minister to the Hague by President George Washington March 2, 1787. He served until 1801. He was minister plenipotentiary to Paris as one of the negotiators of the treaty with France, signed in 1800, which averted war.HM Number | HM22B |
