An Atlantic City native, 'Rennie' graduated from Atlantic City High School and earned degrees in business administration from Atlantic Community College and North Carolina Central University, respectively.
Upon returning to Atlantic City he pursued a career in the casino industry and quickly rose to the position of Pit Boss, training and influencing hundreds who followed this career path.
A tireless youth advocate, community activist, entrepreneur and entertainer, he was founder and President of Oasis, Inc.
As a politician, he was a three-term City Councilman, and thrice elected as mayor, becoming Atlantic City's second African-American to serve in this position.
His affiliations include Executive Board member of the Police Athletic League, Prince Hall Lodge #27 Free & Accepted Masons, Chairman of the Atlantic City Democratic Committee, Atlantic City Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
