The Dwelling House or "Bell House" contained a kitchen, large community dining rooms, and retiring rooms (bedrooms). At the height of this community, 100 Shakers lived in the main building and the 'T' shaped wing. On its roof in a cupola, hung a large bell which was used to signal rising time and to call members at meal time from their widely scattered work places in the fields and shops. The Dwelling House was razed about 1927. The bell is now located at the southeast corner of the Meeting House.
