Discovered while playing in Hot Springs, Arkansan Bill Dickey joined the New York Yankees in 1928. Batting .313 and slugging 202 home runs during his Hall of Fame career, he was best known for his rocket arm, fierce competitiveness, and cerebral handling of his pitchers as one of baseballs greatest catchers. He won seven World Series as a player and more as a coach with the Yanks.
