This house was built in 1837. I. Gardner Ramsdell sold the home to Isaac Cruft, Bethlehem business leader, for $1300.
Mr. Cruft had built and operated the Maplewood Hotel from 1865 to 1890.
He also built The Cruft Block accoss Main Street from the Sinclair Hotel.
The house became a part of the Sinclair Hotel, a 300 guest resort built in 1865.
From the late 1940's until 1976, the house, known as the Sinclair Lodge, was used as family living quarters by Myron Herrman, a co-owner of the Sinclair Hotel.
The property later served as a summer home for the Herrman family. Currently, it is the year round residence of a member of the Herrman family.
