Inscription
In 1845 the Russell Beall family donated land
for Bayou Meto Cemetery. Soon afterward a two
story log building was erected in a grove of
oaks. Known as Bayou Meto Chapel. the structure
served as church, public school and meeting
place for Jacinto Masonic Lodge which was
chartered in 1868.
This white oak tree was estimated by the
Arkansas Forestry Commission in 1975 to be
between 240 and 255 years old.
