On 15 April 1991, on the occasion of the Swiss Confederation, the Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor David Avery named this area "Swiss Court" as a token of the lasting friendship between Switzerland and the United Kingdom. This Cantonal Tree displays the coats of arms of the twenty-six cantons of Switzerland.
