Pineville, Louisiana
1802-1806 First Circuit Riders (ministers) began work in Louisiana. 1811 Rapides Circuit formed - Miles Harper presiding Elder. 1814 John Shrock began work in Rapides area of Louisiana. 1817 Ashley Hewitt, Richmond Nolley, Jonathan C. Jones and Alexander Whitney, each active in Methodism in Rapides area. 1849 Louisiana conference founded, minutes listed Pineville as preaching stop for circuit preachers. 1873 3 acres donated by Thomas E. Maddox to J.M. Henry for the purpose of building a church and cemetery in Pineville. 1875 the Methodist Church and cemetery is located at the corner of Hardtner and Singer streets. 1916 Church moved to 800 block of Main Street, known as the Little White Church House. The pews and stained glass windows were from the original church. 1927 church moved to 900 block of Main Street and built a two-story brick building. 1939 The Methodist Episcopal Church, North, and Protestant, formed Methodist Church. Present congregation became part of South Central jurisdiction. 1960 Church moved to 101 College Boulevard. 1973 Wilson Watson Building opened as part of church plan. 1974 George W. Dameron Memorial Library established in church. 1984 Damaged church steeple replaced and church plan expanded.HM Number | HM2CHC |
