1904 - 1924

On this site stood "Memorial Hall," the two story, log and shingle administrative and social center of the Alabama Confederate Soldiers' Home. Construction was partially financed by individuals from across the state who purchased "Memorial Logs" for the ground floor in memory of Confederate soldiers.

The first floor included a library, a parlor for the United Daughters of the Confederacy, a small assembly room and the commandant's office. A spacious auditorium occupied the entire second floor.

Destroyed by fire in November 1924, "Memorial Hall" was replaced by a small administration building which was dismantled following the close of operations at the Home on October 31, 1939.
