Looking north up Wisconsin Avenue at Old Georgetown Road in 1940. The Bank of Bethesda building, now Crestar Bank, is to the left. The sign to the right announces that the Hot Shoppe was coming soon — it opened in January, 1941. Behind the sign, the building with the columns is the Pumphrey Funeral Home — originally the old George Bradley residence that dates from the late 19th century.
