President of the University of Delaware, 1920-44
Under President Hullihen's leadership, the two colleges known as Delaware College and the Women's College were officially joined and became known as the University of Delaware in 1921. Two years later, Hullihen inaugurated the internationally recognized Foreign Study Plan, or Junior Year Abroad, a predecessor of UD's highly respected current Study Abroad Program. Known as "a man of dignity, humaneness and honor," Hullihen is credited with strengthening University teaching and research, and for overseeing development of many of the buildings that grace The Green today.HM Number | HM2EXG |
