The Log Pond and the log washer, 1895 to 1969
This is the log pnd area. The log pond was in service from 1895, (when the logging railroad was built) until 1954, when the mill was closed for the first time. After the 1957 rebuilding and the conversion of logging to trucks, there was no need for the pond, and it was filled in, and concreted so that it is as you see it today. The log washer was used continuously from as early as 1910 to the mill closing in 1969, although it was rebuilt in 1957 as well, with the closing of the log pond.HM Number | HM2HBU |
