Landmarks of New York
This church, designed in the baroque manner by Ditmars and Schickel, was dedicated in 1898 by Michael Augustine Corrigan, third Archbishop of New York. The parish was founded in 1851 and worshipped in a church on this site named in honor of St. Lawrence O'Toole. The lower church still bears the name of this Irish saint. The parish has been entrusted to the care of the Society of Jesus since 1866.HM Number | HM2HCH |
