Ranch Cookhouse
— c. 1900 —
The Pitchfork Ranch Cookhouse began as a one-room structure. The dining area was added in two sections. Though the exterior walls are covered in modern siding, the original wood plank siding is still intact underneath. The interior walls and ceiling are clad with narrow 1 inch by 2 inch beveled plank paneling. The dining area is a long spare space furnished with hand-made wood tables and benches. Over the years screen porches were added, removed and rebuilt. The building was expanded, including a four-foot widening of the kitchen and a room used as an infirmary. There are no frills. This was working ranch kitchen.HM Number | HM2ICG |
