The land for the Library was donated by the Winthrop Mills Company and it was designed by the Hon. Harry H. Cochrane. Construction started in 1926 under the direction of Victor King of North Monmouth. Dedication exercises for the New Library were held on July 17th, 1926.
In Nov. of 2014, The Library directors decided to turn the library over to the Monmouth Museum, with the intent to use the former library to sell some of its publications, store some of its written assets and to make it a Research Center for the community.
