Ceann t-Sáile Baile Stairiúil / Kinsale Historic Town

Múseum (Teach na Cúirte)
Teach na Cúirte atá anois air ach be é Teach an Mhargaidh é ar dtús, croilár tráchtála an bhaile áit a mbítí ag trádáil sna háirsí ar urlár na talún. Tógadh é thart ar 1600. Dúnadh roinnt de na háirsí i 1706, nuair a tógadh an píosa tosaigh agus seomra na cúirte sa stíl speisialta Ollannach a d'eascair as athruithe sa tír tar éis Chath na Bóinne. Úsáideadh an foirgneamh seo d'ionchoisne íospartaigh an Lusitania, a chuaigh síos i 1915 amach ón Seancheann, agus is ann atá an Amharclann Réigiúnach Ionnaithe anois. Bhí ionchoisne faoi dul go tóin poill an Lusitania i dTeach na Cúirte ar 10 Bealtaine 1915.
I measc na bpíosaí eile a bhfuil bail mhaith orthu atá taobh amuigh den fhoirgneamh, tá croch (craein) ón 'RMS Lusitania', ancaire as Armáid na Spáinne, ar chlis orthu cuidiú leis na hÉireannaigh ag Cath Chionn tSáile (1601), agus ancaire briste ón 'La Trompeuse' a chuaigh síos i 1763.
Ar an ngiúiré bhí 12 áitiúil idir iascairí & siopadóirí mar aon leis an gcróinéir J.J. Horgan agus anCaptaen William Turner, agus déanadh fíorcháineadh ar acheannasaíocht siúd ar an long.
Tá seilbh ag an

Amharclann féin ar mheascán aisteach lámhdhéantúsán a bhaineann le stair muirí an bhaile agus a théann siar go tús ama. Sna seomraí ar urlár na talún, tá bailiúchán suimiúil bairillí, seolta, obair saoir loinge agus rópadóirí, léargas ar thábhacht thionscal longthógála Chionn tSáile. Tarrtháladh roinnt mhaith de na píosaí as an gcuan.

Museum (The Courthouse)
The Courthouse, which was originally the Market House, the commercial heart of the town where trading took place in the arches on the ground floor. It was built around 1600. Some of the arches were closed when the front section and courtroom were built in 1706, with the unique Dutch style resulting from the changed state of the country after the Battle of the Boyne. The building was the location for the inquest on the victims of the Lusitania, sunk off the Old Head of Kinsale in 1915 and is now home to the Regional Museum.
Outside the building there are amongst other well preserved pieces, a davitt (crane) of the 'RMS Lusitania', an anchor from the Spanish from the Spanish Armada's failed attempt to aid the Irish at the Battle of Kinsale (1601) and also a broken anchor from the 1763 sinking of the ship 'La Trompeuse'.
The inquest into the sinking of the Lusitania was held in the Courthouse on May 10th 1915. The jury consisted of 12 local fishermen and shopkeepers' together with coroner J.J. Horgan and Captain William Turner, whose command of the ill-fated ship was severely criticised.
The Museum itself is in possession of a bewildering array of artefacts relating to the town's maritime history and dating from the earliest of times. In the ground floor rooms, there is an interesting collection of shipwright, barrel, sail and ropemakers' work demonstrating the importance of Kinsale's ship-building industry. Many of the pieces were recovered from the harbour.
