For more than two hundred years the Parish Church of Coventry Parish, stood on this site. The present building was erected in 1740. It served a large congregation till about 1900 when it fell into decay and was abandoned. The partial restoration of the church was marked by a service of dedication held on September 23rd, 1928 by the Rt. Rev. George W. Davenport, Bishop of the Diocese, and visiting clergy.

To the Glory of God and in appreciation of the services of Cassius McDashiell of Princess Anne, Maryland through whose efforts the walls were capped, the alter was built, and the floor was said.
