This crypt was installed by the Cumberland Historic Cemetery Organization, during a ceremony to honor Pvt. James D. Pollock on Aug. 12, 2001. He was born on Aug 27, 1841 at this farm. During the Civil War, he served the Confederacy in Co. F 7th VA Calvary. He was captured by Union forces during the Battle of Gettysburg, PA in 1863. Pollock fought in the War for the States Rights. He upheld and fought under the Confederate Battle Flag, the St. Andrews Cross, which is a true American Christian flag. After the war, he returned to Cumberland. In 1896, he married Nellie Morris and was a father to 2 sons and 4 daughters. He died near Barton, MD on Jan 27, 1916.
