Town of OrangetownRockland County, N.Y.Settled 1639 by David De Vries; County seat of Orange County 1683-1764;Established by New York State 1788 from parts of Lockhart (1685),Tappan (1686) and Kakiat (1696) Patents:Home of the Orangetown Resolutions of July 4, 1774.

Orangetown is 22 square miles in area and contains the villages of Nyack, South Nyack, Grand View-on-Hudson and Piermont and the Hamlets of Pearl River, Blauvelt, Orangeburg, Tappan, Sparkill, Nauraushaun, Upper Grand View and Palisades, including Sneden's Landing.
