 (English:)Built in 1908 to the Romanesque revival design of architect H.H. Mott and replacing an earlier wooden church on the same site, Saint James's red brick and sandstone exterior make it unique among Woodstock's churches.
Saint James was a Methodist church, continuing a local Methodist history going back to the mid-1830's when the denomination's first church was built on Lower Main Street. The congregation moved to the present site in 1857, and, in 1925, the Methodists became part of the new United Church of Canada.

(French:)Construite en 1908 selon le style de renaissance romanesque de l'architecte H.H. Mott. Elle a remplacé une église de bois plus ancienne au même emplacement. L'extérieur de brique rouge et de grès la rend unique parmi les églises de Woodstock.
Saint James était une église méthodiste et continuait l'histoire méthodiste locale remontant au milieu des années 1830 quand la première église de cette religion a été construite sur la rue Lower Main. La congrégation a déménage son emplacement actuel en 1857 et, en 1925, les méthodistes ont adhéré á la nouvelle
