The name of the fountain comes from the statue that adorns it, which is the work of the sculptor Enrique Guerra. Temperance, Prudence, Justice and Strength were originally four statues that made up a sculptural ensemble that was made at the beginning of the 20th century to beautify the main facade of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building.
