Acquired in an offseason trade with the St. Louis Cardinals prior to the 1981 season, Vuckovich found instant success in Milwaukee, finishing fourth in the A.L. Cy Young voting in 1981 before winning the award the following season. Posted a 3.55 ERA with a league-leading 14 wins in this first season as a Brewer, helping the club to its first-ever postseason appearance. The following year, he went 18-6 with a 3.34 ERA in 223.2 innings. Led the A.L. in win percentage in 1981 and 1982. Started the decisive game five of the 1982 ALCS as well as the decisive game seven of the 1982 World Series. At the time of induction into the Wall of Honor, Vuckovich started more postseason games (5) than any other Brewers pitcher.HM Number | HM2M5B |
