In recognition of the 144,970United States Naval Armed Guardwho stood the watches and manned the gunson the merchant marine ships.

They were there to provide firepowerto protect the ship and cargo transportedto the battle zones during World War II.

In memory of the 1,810United States Naval Armed Guardwho died in action.

We gratefully dedicate this memorialin their honor.
