A Presbyterian congregationexisted here in the villageof Kingston by 1756. Itsmeetinghouse was on thissite but by 1795 thecongregation had apparentlydisbanded. In 1855 aproposal to reestablisha Presbyterian church in thetown was favorably received,and in 1857 an "Association"for that purpose wasformed. In 1858 the presenthouse of worship waserected and Kingston Churchwas officially organized.
