Constructed for black students,thiselementary school was built shortlyafter Hampton County School Districtpurchased the land in the late 1920s.Two of the school's alumni of the 1930'sand 1940s, brothers James F. and Julius C. Fields achieved national stature as actors, dancers, andchoreographers in stage, television, and motion picture productions.
