Norwegian Evangelical LutheranChurch of Our Redeemer,first Lutheran church in Waupacacounty, was built in 1856directly across the road. It wasenlarged in the form of a Crossin 1867, and demolished in 1928.Pastor Nils Brandt dedicatedthe cemetery June 6, 1853. O. F.Duus, first resident pastor calledfrom Norway, served from1854-58. Before Scandinaviatownship was incorporated in1854, this area was known asWaupaca Settlement or "the IndianLand." The first Norwegianpioneers arrived August 20,1850.
