Originally designed as a residence hall, Legare College replaced a library and science building erected on this site in 1817. Legare College was named for Hugh Swinton Legare, a South Carolina College graduate who served as Attorney General of the United States. Federal military offices were located here after the Civil War. Today Legare College is a residence hall and houses administrative offices of the Department of Military Science.HM Number | HMEN4 |
