Inscription
Begun in 1826, the Salem Methodist Campground moved to this site in 1842. Meeting in October of each year, except 1863 & 1864, it is the oldest regularly held Methodist camp meeting in Mississippi.

I Saw The Marker
It's a very interesting place, and as the marker states, the oldest Methodist camp meeting in Mississippi. Visitors are free to roam the grounds. The "tents" as they are called, and tabernacle, are amazingly preserved, and a wonderful example of Southern folk tradition.
