Pendleton County Civil War Landmark
At this gap defeated Union forces slowed the pursuit of "Stonewall" Jackson following the battle of McDowell in May 1862. The site was used by Confederate forces to make gunpowder from saltpeter secured in nearby cave.HM Number | HMN2T |
