In 1680, Governor Andros authorizedthe erection of a court house of logsto cost 5000 pounds of tobacco.Near this wall was the second buildingused from 1740 to 1791, when the countyseat was moved to Georgetown.The church rented building as a tavernfrom 1797 to 1833, when it was razed and the ground included in the churchyard.
