Legendary American actor, born and raised in this town. During his long career from 1932-1991, Jimmy Stewart achieved fame on stage, screen, and TV. He won an Academy Award for his role in "The Philadelphia Story." Other films included "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington," "It's a Wonderful Life," and "Harvey." He flew 20 combat missions in World War II; rose to Brigadier General in the Air Force Reserve; and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1985.HM Number | HMR5K |
