The Division arrived upon the field March 15, 1862 and made a reconnaissance to Pea Ridge. It went into camp on the 19th. The 3d and 4th Brigades at Shiloh Church; the 1st Brigade on the right, near Owl Creek; the 2d Brigade on the left, near Lick Creek.
Sunday morning, April 6, 1862 the Brigades were engaged in front of their several camps; The 1st, 3d and 4th until 10 A.M. when they were ordered back to the Hamburg and Purdy Road where they joined the right of the 1st Division; the 2d Brigade, on the extreme left of the Union line, until 2:30 P.M. when it retired to the landing.
On Monday the 2d and 4th Brigades were engaged on the left of the 3d Division.
The Division had present for duty, of all arms, officers and men, 8580.
Its loss was 325 killed; 1277 wounded; 299 missing; Total 1901.
