The 73d Regiment originally known as the 45th Pennsylvania was recruited in Philadelphia; organized August 8th, 1861, entered the service September 19th, 1861; and was attached to the Army of the Potomac. After participating in the Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, was ordered to Chattanooga, Tennessee, September, 1863.
